Question: I'm sick of paying my e-mail spam filter vendor thousands of dollars every year in maintenance fees. Can BYO install right over the top of their software?

Answer: Most of our BYO customers replace the anti-spam anti-virus software running on their original spam vendor provided hardware. We have knowledge of at least one of each major vendor provided anti-spam anti-virus hardware has been upgraded to BYO.

Question: How can I test to see if my chosen hardware is compatible?

Answer: Simply download our test ISO image (2.46 MB, zipped) Open and burn cd44.iso to a blank CD-R, boot your hardware from the internal or USB attached CD-ROM. Make sure your system BIOS places the CD-ROM at the highest boot priority. If the install detects your network interface and hard drive, you have nearly a 100% chance of successfully installing BYO. For those installing on SCSI or SATA, you MAY have to manipulate the system BIOS in order for the install to detect the hard drive. Normally setting the SATA values to "legacy support" greatly increases the chance of a successful SATA installation. Nearly 100% of IDE attached hard drives will be detected.

NOTE: The above procedure should be safe to test on your production server as long as you stop the installation at the welcome screen. The installation detects and loads drivers to support your hardware but makes no changes to your hardware as long as you stop at the welcome screen.

2. Using your CD-ROM burning software and a blank CD-R, open and burn the bootable installation operating system
3. Insert the installation CD into the destination server, workstation, or laptop, make sure booting from CD-ROM is enabled in the system BIOS
4. Start the system, follow the instructions in the BYO Installation Guide (PDF)
5. Complete the installation, refer to the Use and Administration guide (PDF) to configure your new BYO appliance.
